The time it was bookish mail {15}

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve done a bookish mail post, so let’s take a look at what I’ve gotten in the mail!

right

I am a huge X-Phile. I mean, I can’t quote episodes, but I own and have watched the entire series several times.  I was able to see David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson at SDCC in 2013, but at the time, I only lost my shit over bought a signed photo from David. So when Gillian announced a book tour signing date at Mysterious Galaxy, I was beyond excited.

Sadly, Gillian canceled, but I was still able to get a signed copy.

When Blue Lily, Lily Blue was released, of course I had to pre-order a signed copy.  The awesome people at Fountain Bookstore always have Maggie’s books available. Before I set up my order, I took to Twitter and asked Maggie if she would be able to add an inscription.  She said absolutely, that I just needed to add it in the request form.

Flash forward several months. There was a UPS truck accident and the shipment to Fountain got ruined and then Maggie went on tour.  Needless to say there was a bit of a delay.

When I did get my book, there was a full page letter from Maggie explaining the entire situation.  I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t get the inscription I wanted {which was completely understandable}, but BLLB was glorious and the doodle/bookplate combo was pretty cool.  Plus, there’s at least one more book coming so I can ask then.

I’ve been a fan of Neil Patrick Harris pretty much my entire life.  I watched Doogie Howser when I was younger and who doesn’t love Barney from How I Met Your Mother?

I saw that NPH was going to be doing an event at The Grove and made plans to go.  Sadly, it was one of the few times that work interfered, and I wasn’t able to make it.  However, the lovely staff completely understood and were willing to let me order a book.  I didn’t expect to have it personalized, but definitely wanted to add NPH to the collection.

On the day I got the book, I immediately went to the title page.  Imagine my surprise when there wasn’t a signature… But wait, there was an “autographed copy” sticker on the cover.  So I looked again, turning the first couple of pages to see if it was somewhere odd.  Alas, nothing.  I figured that it was just a mistake, no big deal.

I started flipping through the book {I always look at the photos first} and stumbled upon the greatest page ever.  I highly suggest reading what it says.

We all know about my undying love and affection for A.G. Howard, yes? I think everyone knows that Anita spoiled me like crazy and I was able to beta read Ensnared right after she finished writing it.  And then again when edits were made.  When it came time for arcs to come out, Anita told me that if she had extra author copies, she would send me one so I could complete my collection.

I wasn’t expecting one, but one day, the prettiest thing showed up with the sweetest inscription.  There’s a little more in the bottom corner and it refers to my boy and it’s glorious.

We’ve established that I’m a spoiled brat, right?

  1. I just ordered from book depository the UK edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone. I’ve been wanting it forever! I also got Geek Girl and finally Anna and the French Kiss.

      Ooh, excellent choices! There’s a set of HP books with so-called “adult” covers and I’m dying to order them.

      Thanks for reading and commenting!
