The time I interviewed myself

Posted March 9, 2016 by Stacee in Interviews | 31 Comments

Rachel at Beauty and the Bookshelf has put together a blog challenge of sorts to help bloggers get out of a blogging slump and post something. As most of you know {or have figured out} my content is mostly based on the events I go to or blog tours I’m participating in. So while I’m not technically in a slump, this seemed like a lot of fun.  I most likely won’t be participating in all of the prompts, but at least one a week.

Blogging ExtravaganzaToday’s topic is: a self interview

Settle in.  This is bound to be a hot mess.

Hotmess

Name? Stacee

Full name? You don’t need that information.

Are you going to include a photo? No.

Why not? I really don’t like my face being on the internet.

Paranoid much? Obviously.

Is that why you always use David Tennant as your avatar? Yes.  Besides, you can’t really prove I’m not DT. Have you ever seen us both in the same room at the same time? Plus, there’s no such thing as too much David.

tumblr_mm3mokVMFp1r1c36ao1_500

What other things are you weird about? How much time do you have?

No, really. I don’t like even numbers.

What other pet peeves do you have? Lateness, abbreviations/text speak in texting, people who type Dr. Who instead of the correct Doctor Who, and overall stupidity.

How long have you been blogging? In October it will be 5 years {!!!!!}

What made you start blogging? LeAnna at Mysterious Galaxy mentioned that I should start blogging when I was in the middle of going to 4 signing events in 5 days.  The idea didn’t even occur to me.

Why doesn’t the name of your blog match the URL? The name of the blog is Adventures of a Book Junkie, the URL is…not.  When I started this, I never thought I would actually keep blogging, let alone be thinking about everything matching up to “build a brand”.  I always liked the quote from Louisa May Alcott, so that made sense to me when it was time to move away from a blogspot URL.  I’ve toyed with the idea of changing the domain name, but I’ve been with this one for a loooooong time, so I’m quite hesitant. The double e in my twitter/IG handle is to try and make everything come back to the name of the blog and give a nod to the odd spelling of my name.

However, it can all be a huge PITA.  People often think the blog is called Too Fond of Books or Adventures of a Book Junkee.  I used to never say anything to correct it, but I was recently denied press passes at a con {not SDCC} because my application information didn’t match the provided links.   So now I always have to ask publicists, etc to change it.  I can’t stress this enough: if you start a blog, make sure all of your shit matches.

JFC. Long answer much? You asked.

Do you still love it? Yes.  Sometimes I still struggle with content {I rarely do reviews or weekly memes} and it’s always in the back of my mind that if I miss a week or two no one will ever come back.

Moving on…What’s your favorite food? Cake.  Or pizza.  Or pasta. Or bacon cheeseburgers.  This is hard.

Okay, what about your favorite book? Pride + Prejudice

What is it about Darcy? I don’t even know where to begin.  Either you get it or you don’t. Also? Colin Firth FTMFW.

tumblr_inline_nvij4zpx9Z1rbu04k_500

If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be? This question is only amusing when I ask other people.

Keeping with the theme of what you ask other people…Who is your favorite book boyfriend?  I have a harem of book boyfriends, and yes I have proof.  My number one, fight-to-the-death-because-he-is-mine book boyfriend is Noah Shaw from the Mara Dyer series.  I made two 12 year old girls cry when I showed them the picture of the inscription from Michelle.  I’m not ashamed to say that their reaction pleased me.

What bookish MC would you want to hang out with? Probably Caymen from The Distance Between Us.  Or Eleanor from Something Strange and Deadly.  I think we would have lots of fun {and probably get arrested.}

Who do you fangirl over? So many authors.  I was a mess when I met Michelle Hodkin.  I sort of blacked out and word vomited all over Lisa McMann. And I completely lose my shit every time I see Stephanie Perkins. Ohhh…and I think I only made sounds when I met David Duchovny at SDCC and he tried to engage me in a brief conversation.

Favorite tv show? I love Doctor Who, but I’m still heartbroken over Matt Smith leaving and haven’t watched since.  Criminal Minds, Elementary, Bones, Fringe, The X-Files.  And I’m such a whore for Toddlers & Tiaras.  It’s my guilty pleasure.

Favorite Doctor, companion, and episode?  I’m tied between DT and MS.  David because David {obvs}, but Matt was the first Doctor that we went through regeneration with and I wept like a baby.  Companion: Donna. I loved their banter and that she wasn’t all moony-eyed over The Doctor. River is my favorite character, but I don’t count her as a companion.  Episode: The Girl in the Fireplace.

Are you tired of doing this? Sort of.

Have you always been a reader? Yes.  I was sent into the 8th reading grade class when I was in 3rd grade because I was getting bored.  They were reading The Hobbit and no one believed that I would be able to understand what was going on.  Shows what they know.

Speaking of reading…how do you read so fast? I don’t know.  I just do.  I tend not to read all of the words in a sentence.  I can skim down the middle of the page and my eyes will pick up what I need.

123

So like speed reading? No? I don’t think I’m that fast.  If I am loving a book, I can usually get through 300 or so pages in 90 minutes.

What’s one thing about you that no one would believe? I was a varsity football cheerleader in high school.

Favorite word? Fuck.

Least favorite word? The other f-word.  It rhymes with bag.

Why do you go to Disneyland so much? It’s 40 minutes away.  Wouldn’t you go all the time?

Favorite Disney snack?  Hands down, the beignets and pomme frites.  But, if we don’t want to wait for those, we just recently found a cart that sells garlic cheesy bread and it’s like heaven.

What would you do if you woke up and found out that you were Bella in Twilight? Get Edward or Alice or anyone in the family to change me ASAP.

What is your favorite book to movie adaptation? If Harry Potter doesn’t count, I really loved Bridget Jones’ Diary.  Bonus points for Colin Firth as Mark Darcy.

tumblr_mxepb491k71qgumbqo1_400

Last question so we can hit an odd number…how many tattoos do you have? I’ve lost count, but I still have more skin than tattoos.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Huge thanks to Rachel for thinking this up and then inviting us all to play.  You should definitely join us.  Go here to see all of the details and the schedule.
As for the interview…if you have any other burning questions you’re just dying to know the answer to, let me know in the comments.  And if you’re enjoying the brief look into the crazy, be sure to stalk follow me in all of the places.
  1. Hi Stacee! DT is so handsome and his smile makes me swoon. <3
    Congrats on almost five years of blogging! That's incredible!
    I definitely agree with your favorite foods. LOL. But now I want cake. Honestly, when DON'T I want cake, though?
    How often do you see Stephanie Perkins? Oh my gosh, I'm so jealous. She's one of my favorites and I'm dying to meet her!
    If Disneyland were only 40 minutes away, yes, I'd go almost every weekend. LOL. That's so fun!
    Thanks for sharing your interview! I tried to find a new way to follow you, but I'm already following bloglovin', instagram, and Twitter.
      There’s no such thing as too much cake or having it too often. :D
      I’ve seen Stephanie a few times, maybe 3 or 4? I’m not sure how many time. Enough that she recognizes me when I see her and lose my mind.
      Thanks for all of your follows and for commenting!!
  2. Stacee, it’s so nice to meet you. I’ve seen you around the blogosphere/etc. for a while now but I’m always intimidated to say hi (which is silly; I SHOULD JUST SAY HI). I also really like Doctor Who, but I must admit my favorite is 9. I have a special place for 9/Rose in my heart. (I’m one of few that doesn’t love 10. Now, don’t get me wrong; DT is great but I just feel like CE gets no love!) I also hate the word you hate. And LOL on your answer of waking up as Bella Swan and getting asked to be changed back!!!!!
    Rachel :)
    • Stacee
      Hi Rachel!! *waves* YOU SHOULD ALWAYS SAY HI!!
      I liked Nine and he’s Hubs favorite Doctor. I liked how dark he was, but David is…well, David.
      Thanks for reading and commenting!
  3. Hi Stacee! Definitely no such thing as too much David Tennant!
    I have now decided we have to be friends. I love Doctor Who too! And Pride & Prejudice!
    Donna and River are my favourites too! And I agree, River is not a companion.
    You should give Peter Capaldi a go! I really enjoyed his second series – it got intense!
    • Stacee
      Hi Annika!!
      I watched the premiere episode of the first season Capaldi was in, but we never got any further than that. I’ve heard a lot of good things about him, so I’m sure we’ll give him a chance eventually. I’m not quite ready to give up the show.
      Thanks for reading and commenting!
  4. Holy cow, 300 pages in 90 minutes and you don’t think that is fast?! God. a 400 page book will take me a day or 2 to finish IF I just sit and read the entire day xD I’m jealous. Teach me your ways!
    Disneyland is only like 20 minutes away from me, I even have a pass, but I NEVER go. It’s always too crowded. We end up just going to Cove Bar and MAYBE going on Pirates lol
    Also, that’s awesome you’ve been blogging for 5 years! yay!
    • Stacee
      If we lived 20 minutes away, I would just move in. We’re up there at least once a week and during the summer with the longer hours, easily 2-3 times a week.
      Thanks for reading and commenting!!
  5. I absolutely hate weird text language as well and continually get told by my friends that I instant message like a “grandma” with proper language and grammar… Oh well, rather a texting grandma than a sender of weird codes.
    Pride and Prejudice is my fave too – I can still remember watching the BBC adaptation for the first time when I was like 7 or something and thinking that Darcy was such an asshole (obviously, by this point I hadn’t read the book yet!). I am happy I ended up watching all of the episodes to discover Darcy’s true, wonderful nature!
    • Stacee
      The BBC adaptation with Firth is the best one ever. I try to watch it once a year because Darcy…obvs.
      Thanks for reading and commenting!!
  6. Wow! You’re a fast reader! I’ve been in a huge reading slump as of late, which is kind of annoying. LOL I love that gif of Darcy I don’t think I’ve seen the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, but I’m definitely going to check it out now!
    • Stacee
      Ohhhhh. I hope you love it! It’s like 6 hours long, but it’s totally worth it.
      Thanks for reading and commenting!!
  7. Iʻm weird about posting things on the internet, too. I wonʻt post my full name, my daughterʻs full name, or pictures of my daughter (straight on ones of her face, mostly) on my blog or any of my public profiles because there are such weird people on the internet!
    I am definitely amazed (and a little jealous) by your fast reading skills.
    I miss Disney Land so much! Itʻs been a while since Iʻve been there, although we go to Disney World pretty often. Iʻm hoping to go later this year sometime. I just really want to watch the Paint the Night parade in person! YouTube videos are fine, but Iʻm sure itʻs even more magical in person.
    • Stacee
      Oooh!! The Paint the Night parade is amazing. We finally grabbed a bench and waited something crazy like 5 hours to have a front row seat to it and it’s just stunning. The videos don’t capture everything. I’m sure you’ll love it.
      Thanks for reading and commenting!!
  8. Congrats on blogging for so long! 5 years is a milestone that should be celebrated!! :) I’m like you! I absolutely love Pride & Prejudice especially the adaptation with Colin Firth!! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen it! :) Great interview. Here’s mine: Interview
    • Stacee
      Thank you!! I’m sure I’ll plan something pretty big when I actually hit that date. And yes, Colin Firth is definitely the best Darcy.
      Thanks for reading and commenting!
    • Stacee
      I was a cheerleader and my mother has the photos to prove it. :D I will go to Disney for EVERYONE!!
      Thanks for reading and commenting!
  9. I 100% agree with the favorite word of yours, as well as the least favorite word, and I’m 200% in love with how much Colin Firth and David Tennet is in this post.
    I’m definitely going to be subscribing to your blog in any way I can (probably email since I can’t seem to figure anything else out hahah) since I’m already following Insta and Twitter too! Might as well follow every where :)
    • Stacee
      You can never have too much Colin Firth or David Tennant. :D Thanks for following in all of the places, I completely encourage stalking, just not in the creepy, KH way.
      Thanks for reading and commenting.
  10. I didn’t do an interview for the extravaganza because, unlike you, I have done a bunch of tags and anything I could ask myself everyone knows 20Xs over. I will be doing the Friday prompt about coveted bookish thjngs. I watched the first Doctor Who with Capaldi and that was it for me and the 12th. David is my fave, but I did weep for Matt when he was gone. And… hahahaha, I love Toddlers and Tiaras, too! I was so sad when they stopped making new episodes. Now I watch Dance Moms. Ha! I was an old X-Files fan, but I haven’t watched the new ones yet. And Fringe! “Because it’s cool.” ~ Walter Bishop
      I did watch the first episode of Capaldi and liked it, but I think it was more of Straxx, Madam Vastra, and Jenny that carried the story. As for the new X-Files, I’ve loved the new episodes. I still haven’t watched the finale because then it’s over and I heard it’s a horrible cliffhanger. Until I know that there will be more, I can’t commit.
      Thanks for reading and commenting!
  11. Congratulations on 5 years of blogging!!! I’m in my 3rd year, and I can’t believe how fast time flies! I wish I lived so close to Disney! I’ve made it to Disneyworld once in high school and I’ve been wanting to go back ever since, especially now that I can share it with my little guys. I’ve wanted to watch Doctor Who for quite a while now but got intimidated by the amount of episodes out there and the lack of time that I usually have to watch tv. I still do want to check it out though :) Also NOAH!! Great choice!
    I literally LOL’d at your answer to “if you could only read one book..” cause it really is only amusing when you ask other people. haha!
    • Stacee
      I fully recommend Doctor Who. You’ll know in a couple of episodes if the idea of it is for you. Hubs and I watched the first season of the reboot {starting with Nine} in a day because we were captivated. I hope you enjoy it if you start!
      Thanks for reading and commenting!!
  12. Fact: When I first “met” you on Twitter I don’t know that I knew your picture was DOCTOR WHO, but since then I’ve basically just pictured you looking just like that picture…with a ponytail. (I think I thought the picture had a ponytail?) Two things I totally would not have guessed about you: that you were a cheerleader and that you watched TODDLERS AND TIARAS. Pretty sure I was like whaaaaa for that last one. Fuck is also my favorite word, clearly. I have never read PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and I’ve seen bits of the movie, but that it’s it. I need to read PPZ in like a day for book club though. I’m not sure why you don’t just move into Disney? (Although you’ve also got that zoo down there that’s pretty fantastic.) Every time you post about going to Disney I turn green with envy. I’m also a fan of odd numbers, and also multiples of five. But I like some numbers over others. For instance, six is just weird, but eight makes more sense. Seventeen and nineteen are odd; it makes more sense to eat eighteen chips. (Yes, sometimes I count my food.) Also, you totally do read super fast. I don’t think I could go through and just sort of pick out words; even when I try to scan a page really fast I don’t know what’s going on and I disconnect. Fun fact: I’ve had this idea for a Noah Shaw thing for forever. I’ll make it eventually and send it to you. But I might have to copyright/trademark it because others might want it; it’s pretty cool, if I do say so myself. (;
    • Stacee
      I like that you count your food. I don’t do that, but I will separate certain candies by color and eat them from the shittiest flavor to best. And I generally don’t like my food to touch on the plate. I have some issues. Don’t you think I would have moved into the Haunted Mansion if I thought I could get away with it? :D
      What is this Noah thing you speak of? Thanks for putting this together, it’s already so much fun.
