The time it was about Reading Rewind {6}

So last month, I put my choice for Reading Rewind into the hands of my Twitter followers. To be honest, it’s way more fun to see what the votes are going to be.  Added bonus: I don’t have to make the decision.

The Twitter poll decided that I was going to reread Unearthly and then I completely forgot to do it.  I’ve been wanting to reread it since starting this feature and I was excited to actually sit down with these characters again.

1. When did you originally read the book and what did you rate it?

I first read Unearthly in January of 2012 {which was pretty much the beginning of my YA reading career} and gave it 3 stars.  At that time, my Goodreads usage was just to keep track of what I was reading, so there isn’t any sort of review.  Just a rating.

2. Why did you love it?

Well, without a review, I just have a vague memory of liking Tucker, but loving Christian.  Of laughing over things Angela did and enjoying Wendy’s quiet support.  Of being wary of Clara’s mom and confused about Jeffery.  And surprisingly, I couldn’t remember having any sort of feelings towards Clara.  She was a blank slate to me.

3. After the re-read did your rating/feelings about it change? Why or why not?

This time around, I gave it 4 stars.  Annnnnnd I might have been swayed to come over to the Tucker side.  I didn’t remember his sweet words and the fun and relaxing summer he gave Clara.  I still felt the same way about all of the other characters.  I didn’t come out with any strong feelings about Clara. I liked that we got her when she was mostly okay with being an angel, but that she could still keep secrets and act like a petulant teenager.

I was fairly irritated about the ending.  There was all of this build up for the purpose and the fire and then it’s over in like 5 pages and without any sort of resolution. Not to mention the weird thing that happens right before the fire and the fact that we got absolutely nothing from it. I’m half tempted to keep reading the series, but my TBR is a bit out of control right now. {Surprise, surprise.} I may have to take an hour and skim parts of the other two books to refresh my memory for what happens.  I can only remember bits.

Overall, it was definitely more enjoyable this time around.  Sure, there were some sort of lame scenes and dialogue sections, but for the most part, it was a quick, fluffy read.

      Yeah, the love triangle is a bit weird in this one. I don’t remember a lot of what happens between the three of them, but there are definite feelings.

      Thanks for always reading and commenting!

  2. I really want to do this! Next year I am either going to do a no ARCs year, or a one a month restriction, so that I can pare down my personal reading tbr and that pile contains some rereads. I want to reread a bunch of books I read before blogging. I love this feature. Keep them coming. :)
