The time it was Friday Favorites {7}

Posted December 9, 2016 by Stacee in Friday Favorites / 3 Comments

Here we are for another installment of Friday Favorites! Today’s guest is someone I’ve flailed with for longer than I can say. She’s all for excessive use of shouty caps, her IG photos are stunning, and her hashtags are amazing. I was thrilled to see that she signed up.

fridayLet’s welcome Rachel from Beauty and the Bookshelf!

Describe your blog and/or IG in 3 words.

Books, awkwardness, profanity.

Tell us 3 random facts about you

  1. I have a freckle on the bottom of my left foot and I’m very proud of it.
  2. My hair has been just about every color (I think I’m only missing orange, white, and black), and even though I’m naturally a brunette, I can’t just have plain brown hair. I can’t. Right now it’s ombre-ish brown with very, very faded and not very good looking pink and purple, and I’m thinking of utilizing black and teal and purple next.
  3. I use my middle finger like it’s my pointer finger (sorry, Mom).

What book world would you want to live in?

Okay, so, parts of the world aren’t exactly nice and fluffy, buuut Erilea and Prythian because I’m a fan of Sarah J. Maas’s books. And Morganville, Texas because (fictionally) going there is like going home. And Neverland because NEVERLAND, DUH.

Author: Stephenie Meyer (always), Sarah J. Maas, Rachel Caine…

Book: I’m going to just give you one, because it’s the book that got me into reading and you probably wouldn’t even be reading this post if I hadn’t read it: Twilight.

Movie/tv show: Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, Treasure Planet, Dinosaur, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Soul Eater–I can keep going.

Band: Guns N’ Roses, Muse…but really I’m totally blanking here which is odd because I love, love, love music and can’t sit still when listening to it. I’m also all about the scores, like Braveheart and Gladiator.

Blog: I don’t really have a favorite (and I’m so bad at reading other blogs, though I’ve been working on my blogging skills), but I’m going to go with Pop! Goes the Reader because DESIGN GOALS.

Instagram account: Okay so, like, I follow 1200 accounts on Instagram and they’re a mix of books, animals, and art. So I’m going to pick one of each! One bookstagrammer who takes fantastic photos and for some reason doesn’t have many followers is vespertine.volumes. If you’re not following juniperfoxx you are missing out. And picking one art account is hard, but _picolo is one of my favorites.

What is your favorite blog post and/or instagram photo from your account?: Oh gosh, a favorite blog post? Hell if I know! But if I had to pick one…let’s go with a discussion post called Those Gosh Darn Spoilers. It’s a perfect example of how I can sound a little crazy when I get passionate about something bookish. And it’s also a friendly reminder to please please please stop spoiling and ruining books for others.

For Instagram, I don’t know that I really have a favorite (and I’m going to make this easier and pick one of my nature photos, not one of my old ones), but I’m going to go with the one I took of Wintersong (seen here). There’s just something about the way it turned out that made me feel like it was my “million-dollar photo,” and I think what really pulled it together was that big, beautiful cut log. Too bad it’s long since been turned to ash in the wood stove.

Huge thanks to Rachel for signing up and sharing her favorites!! You can find her on her blog, Twitter, and Instagram.

  1. Wow, there have been seven Friday Favorites already?! I love Howl’s Moving Castle and Spirited Away. I was just talking about Spirited Away on my blog on Friday.

I will have to check out the spoilers post. I hate inconsiderate readers. I was spoiled for Allegiant about three days after it came out with THE SPOILER. I was only about 25% in and I actually cried I was so upset the book was basically ruined for me. Then I was spoiled for Ruin and Rising the day after it pubbed. Ugh. The second one was on purpose because someone was leaving the spoiler in comments on non-spoiler blog reviews. :(

    Another fab FF post. :)
