The time it was Top Ten Tuesday {16}

Posted June 27, 2017 by Stacee in Top Ten Tuesday / 25 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.

Today’s topic is Top Ten Best Books You’ve Read In 2017 So Far. This is in no specific order.  Also, I basically just scrolled through my “read in 2017” shelf to look for 5 star ratings otherwise, I could have been here forever trying to figure out how to hit only ten.

1. The Becoming of Noah Shaw by Michelle Hodkin — I am straight up cheating with this one.  As of right now, I’m still reading this one, but I’ll be done today {because  even though I’m trying to draw this one out, I need to devour it} and I know it’s going to be a 5 star read.  This has been my top want for 2017 and so far, it’s everything.

2. Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley — I don’t have words for Cath’s writing.  Graffiti Moon is one of my favorite books, but Words is so much better.  Besides, it’s set in a used bookstore, so if that doesn’t sell it, I don’t know what will.

3. Geekerella by Ashley Poston — This book is a love letter to fandom and I basically want to roll around with it.

4. Here Lies Daniel Tate by Cristin Terrill — After loving All Our Yesterdays, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on more of Cristin’s words and she didn’t disappoint.  HLDT is creepy and delicious and kept me guessing the entire time.

5. Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer — I don’t normally do sad books, but there was something about this one.  I’m so glad I didn’t pass it up.  Yes, it’s heartbreaking, but it’s also hopeful and the letters aspect of it was fantastic.

6. Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index by Julie Israel — Another sort of sad one, but this one has an adventure-y scavenger hunt type feel to it and for me, that made all the difference.

7. All the Forever Things by Jolene Perry — Awkward MC with a family who runs a funeral home? Count me in.

8. A Million Junes by Emily Henry — Emily Henry has cemented herself as an auto-buy author with this book.  I loved it more than TLTSTW and I wasn’t sure it was possible.

9. Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco — More Thomas? Yes. Yes. Yes.

10. Cold Summer by Gwen Cole — A unique sort of time travel book that had me captivated with the quiet anticipation and build up.  This is Gwen’s debut and I can’t even wait to see what’s next for her.

What about you? What are some of  your best books of 2017?

  1. Geekerella’s good! Haven’t read any of the others. I’d say some recent top reads are And I Darken, A History of Glitter and Blood, and Stillhouse Lake.

  2. Letters to the Lost and Geekerella made my list this week. Definitely favorites from this year! I’m reading Stalking Jack the Ripper right now to get read for HPD and am really enjoying it! And Noah Shaw?!?!?! I really need to read Retribution so I can be ready for when this one comes out.

  4. Wait, hold up! I didn’t even know The Becoming of Noah Shaw was a thing. Queue fangirling! Noah Shaw was my book boyfriend a few years back. I need this book in my life; thank you, without you I would still have no clue that book existed! I’ve been hearing awesome things about Geekerella so I will definitely be reading it sometime soon! Fantastic list! Happy reading!

Noah Shaw is still my #1 book boyfriend! I love him. I hope you enjoy the book when you read it. And yes to Geekerella!! It’s fantastic.

  5. Hi, Stacee! I am off work for the summer, except for my side job of babysitting, so I can come around and comment and bug you now. Ha ha. I still haven’t gotten to the last Mara book because I wanted to reread the first two, but it looks like I should get on it now because the Noah book comes out in November, right?

I have seen a lot of good things being said about Words In Deep Blue. I want to check out All the Forever Things, too. :)

  6. Sam

I have AMJ and Words In Deep Blue on my TTT too. Henry’s writing just always gets to me, and this was my first Crowley book, which I will call my gateway book, because I want to read EVERYTHING she writes or has written. Geekerella and Letters to the Lost were close to being on my list. They were both fabulous too. I am curious about Daniel Tate. It sounds intriguing, and I definitely want to read Noah Shaw as I am a Mara fan. Great list!
