The time it was an inquiry {2}

The time it was an inquiry {2}

I don’t think it’s a secret that I love the Mara Dyer books and Michelle Hodkin.  I’ve been lucky to meet a lot of authors and she’s the only person that I seriously lose my shit in front of.  Ask Michelle or Katie.  They’ve seen it and are highly amused by it. Once upon a time in 2013, I did a blog post about getting Michelle to Mysterious Galaxy and now with The Becoming of Noah Shaw coming out next […]

The time there were bagpipes

The time there were bagpipes

Going to Maggie Stiefvater was always a sure thing. We ordered our tickets and were eagerly awaiting the event. I’ve met Maggie a few times at SDCC, but I’ve never heard her talk, so I was beyond excited. Keiko and I got to MG eaaaaarrrrrrly. We chatted with the lovely staff, grabbed our usual seats, and settled in to wait. The crowd started showing up around 11:30. People were buying books and milling around the store. The seats were put […]

The time it was about corn

Going to see Stephanie Perkins is always a sure thing.  She’s one of my favorite authors to see and just a lovely person all around. As soon as I found out that she would be in Oceanside for There’s Someone Inside Your House, it was on the calendar.  Especially since I’ve been hearing her talk about this book for so long, I was eager to hear her talk about it more in depth. Michelle and I got to the store […]

The time it was about middle grade books

Seeing Tamara Ireland Stone is always a given.  We have a standing date at her launch parties and I’ve driven up to San Francisco for all of them: Time Between Us, Time After Time, and Every Last Word.  This time around, Tamara told me that she would be coming to me. We got to the bookstore early enough for me to run amok, hug all of my favorite Mysterious Galaxy people, raid the back room, and peruse the YA section. […]

The time it was about SDCC 2017

The time it was about SDCC 2017

I don’t think it’s a secret how much I love SDCC. I spend allllllll year waiting for it and things go in stages: pre-reg, open reg, press reg, and parking. Once all of those are completed, it’s only a few months that seem to take forever before the convention is actually here. Preview night We got downtown around 4pm, met up with Michelle and her husband, and carried on with our yearly preview night tradition: carne asada fries at Lolita’s. […]
